LILLY'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Lilly's learning commitment goal was to sing a song to the class.  She sang "Let it go" from the Frozen movie.  Well done, Lilly.  Keep up the great singing!

RAPUNZEL SHOW

Yesterday we watched a super fun show called Rapunzel.  There were lots of crazy characters auditioning for a talent with Simon Cow.  The show made us laugh!

GEORGIE'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Georgie was very busy on the snow day.  She made lots of delicious banana muffins as part of her learning commitment.  Georgie shared her recipe with the class and we got to taste her yummy baking.  Well done Georgie!

WINTER WEATHER

The decision to close schools is made in consultation with the Police and Met Service judging the risk of not being able to provide the staff for a full day. Decisions are made collectively for all Dunedin primary schools as soon as possible in the day.

Parents are reminded of the following ways to check on possible school closure:

Our school website (www.georgestreet.school.nz) will have the most up-to-date information about possible school closure due to weather conditions. Look for this information in the top right corner of our home page.

Local radio stations such as Radio Dunedin 99.8FM or More FM 97.4FM will broadcast if schools will open at 10am or remain closed for the day.

Depending on the availability of our staff on a snow day, we will always attempt to keep our answer phone messages up-to-date. If all else fails, please call or text the school mobile number provided on our main school answer phone message (021 262 9919)

Please note that if the snowfall is light, school will be open as usual. If snow falls during a school day, children will not be sent home early. We will close at the usual time of 3pm. However, if parents or caregivers wish to collect their children before 3pm, that is quite acceptable. Please let the classroom teacher know before taking your child.

FONTERRA'S FIRST BIRTHDAY

On Friday it was Fonterra's first birthday (of supplying milk to Otago schools). It was a fun-filled day with milk tankers in the playground and a special visit from eight of the Otago Highlanders.  We also had milk carton folding competitions and a free Pitta Pit lunch.  We were famous and got our photo taken by the Otago Daily Times and were filmed by Channel 9.

MARK'S LADYBUG

Mark has been extra busy making a ladybug out of paper.  We thought his ladybug was awesome.  Well done, Mark!

GIRL GUIDES
