LAST DAY

Today was the last school day of 2014.  We had a fun day and loved playing on the bouncy castle.

POPPY VISITS SCHOOL AGAIN

Mrs McCulley's dog Poppy came to spend the day in Room 11 with us.  Poppy loves all the kids in Room 11 and was exhausted after her big, exciting day.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH

Today was Noah's birthday.  He brought a delicious cake along to share with us.  Happy birthday Noah!

FREYA PLAYS THE PIANO

Freya entertained us today by playing us a tune on the piano.  Great work, Freya!

PROMS IN THE HALL

Unfortunately it was a rainy day, so we could not have our Christmas concert in the Botanic Gardens.  Instead we had a picnic on the deck and in our classrooms, then performed our concert in the school hall.  It was still a fun night!

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION - PROMS IN THE PARK

We hope that everyone will be able to come along and join us for our end of year celebration - Proms in the Park.

PROMS IN THE PARK PRACTICE

Today we walked to the Dunedin Botanic Gardens to practise for our end of year concert 'Proms in the Park'.  We enjoyed the lovely walk, singing, picnic and play in the playground.

DALI'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Well done to Dali, who shared his Learning Commitment with us today.  Dali was very busy making a powerpoint about Minecraft.

SUPER CUTE VISITORS TO ROOM 11!

Today we had some super cute visitors to Room 11.  Juniper brought her kittens along to meet us.  They are only 5 weeks old and they are still very little.  They are called Clingy, Stripy Tiger and Fearsic.

SENIOR TEAM'S SHOW

Today we watched the dress rehearsal for the Senior Team's Show.  It was called 'This is Us'.  There was singing, dancing, drama and lots of music.  We thought the show was great!

ALLITERATION

We are learning about alliteration and writing our own tongue twisters.  We watched this fun video clip to give us ideas.

PLEASE RETURN YOUR LIBRARY BOOKS

Our school library is turning into a classroom.  It will be called Room 18 next year and will be part of the Middle Team.  Because of this, all of our library books need to be returned this week.  Thank you!

XAVIER'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Xavier shared his Learning Commitment goal with us today.  He has been making really cool things with Lego.  Awesome work, Xavier!

FREYA'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Freya has been working really hard this year with her maths.  She has been going to Number Works and showed us all the certificates she has been given.  Well done, Freya!

FRACTIONS SONG

We have been learning about fractions during maths.  Here is a great song that is helping us to remember important information about fractions.

PRESENTING PLAYS

In Room 11 we love doing plays!  We have been practising plays in our reading groups and then we presented them to the class.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

To celebrate Halloween some of the children in our class dressed up.  We talked about how it was really important to have an adult with you if you were going trick or treating.

CONGRATULATIONS TIM!

Congratulations to Tim who has been working really hard playing piano.  In his recent piano exam he achieved 92.5%.  Well done!

MARK'S LEARNING COMMITMENT

Well done to Mark who shared his Learning Commitment with the class.  Mark has been extra busy making games on a computer program called 'Scratch'.  We thought Mark's dragon was awesome!

OLIVIA'S TRIP TO JAPAN

Olivia was extremely lucky and has just been on the school trip to Japan.  She spend two weeks travelling to Tokyo, Kyoto, Gifu and Osaka.  The highlights of her trip were the dolphin show at the Tokyo Hotel and visiting Gifu School.  Olivia also went to Universal Studios and saw Snoopy, Elmo, Harry Potter and Hello Kitty.  She told us all about it and we were amazed!

DON'T FORGET YOUR SUNHAT!

Summer is coming!  That means that we need to bring our sun hats to school to wear this term.  Do you have yours ready to wear?

WELCOME TO TERM 4

Welcome back to school.  I hope everyone has had a fabulous break and that we are all ready for a great term.  Watch out for the Room 11 Term 4 Newsletter which will be coming home today.  It will tell you what will be happening for our final term of the year.

ATHLETICS DAY

Today it was athletics day!  The sun was shining and we had lots of fun at the Caledonian Sports Ground.  We got to try the discus, sprints, relays, shot put, long jump, 800 metre run, high jump, hurdles and an obstacle course.   Well done all of the children - what a great effort!  Also a special thank you to the 10 children who ran in the Room 11 class relay.  You were awesome!

RHYTHM INTERACTIVE

Today we went into the hall and got to play the drums as part of a 'Rhythm Interactive' show.  It was lots of fun!

FAREWELL TO MRS TOWNS

On Tuesday we had a special farewell assembly for Mrs Towns because she is retiring.  Mrs Towns has worked in our school office for 31 years!  Each class made her a special card and gave her a flower.  Bodhi and Lilly went up on stage for our class and delivered the goodies to Mrs Towns.

ATHLETIC SPORTS

At the end of this term we will be having a sports day at the Calendonian Sports Grounds.  To prepare for this we have been participating in rotations of lots of different athletic activities.  We are learning about long jump, high jump, sprints, relays, discus and hurdles.

WEARABLE ART SUPERSTARS…. WE MADE IT ON TV!

PRESENTING PLAYS

In Room 11 we love presenting plays to the class.  Today the 'Super Terriers' reading group shared a play called 'Molly's Messy Desk'.  It was very entertaining!

FITNESS TIME

We have had more people teaching us lots of fun new fitness games.  Thanks to Sasha, Sissi, Bhavya and Georgie for their great ideas and effort.
